We all want to feel important and the truth is, you are. We all are capable of doing amazing things on this planet. Once you establish that mindset, you see yourself and the world differently. You act differently and you behave in a way that says "I respect myself and deserve better." In saying this, let's look at 5 ways to increase your value.
1. Know What You Want
When you know what you want in any given situation, you're telling people that you are there for a purpose. You have your eyes set on something and you will do everything you can to make that purpose fulfilled. When you know what you want, you don't waste time being with people that distract you. You're able to see the big picture and doing this creates value in other peoples' eyes.
2. Never Give Up Too Easily
99 % of people give up easily. This habit alone will separate you from the rest of the pack and create value. All great things take time and effort. Perseverance and dedication is what it takes to accomplish your goals. Nowadays people want everything quick and easy. In reality, that's not how the world works. Ask every successful person and they will tell you that they failed so many times before they succeeded. The difference? They view failing as an opportunity and you should too.
"There is no substitute for hard work. Never give up. Never stop believing. Never stop fighting." - Hope Hicks
3. Never Be Afraid To Say "No"
In order to accomplish your goals, you must be able to say "no". Whether it's to your friends or family, saying "no" lets people know that you value your time and you have goals that need to be met. Being able to say "no" because you need time to yourself or because you feel that what your friends are doing is not right is perfectly okay. When you tell people "no", it shows that you have morals and you stick to them.
4. Stand Up For Yourself
If you feel you're being disrespected our mistreated in any way, you must be able to stand up for yourself. This will show that people have no right to treat you badly. They say a bully will seek the weakest person in the room and pick on him/her because they do not stand up for themselves. In order to do this, you must be okay with confrontation. You must be okay with some people not liking you. When you stand up for yourself, you are telling people that you respect yourself and others should too. Be able to speak your mind in an assertive, respectful, and calmly manner.
5. Own Your Decisions
Lastly, to create value, you must be able to own your decisions. When you take ownership of your actions, you're able to control your life. Don't blame others for your actions and don't have a "victim" mindset. Go into every situation knowing that it is in your hands. When you do this, you feel empowered about your life and your future. No matter what, everything will be okay.
Bottom Line: Believing you have value is a mindset. Once you firmly believe how powerful you are. You show that subconsciously through your actions.
